Sophie van Leeuwen is a Business Development Assistant at Democracy International. Previously, she worked as a Research Intern at Silverline Communications. In this role, she assisted in media relations focusing on clean energy, climate policy, and emerging technologies.

Ms. van Leeuwen graduated with a bachelors degree in economics and politics with a concentration in security, cooperation, and conflict. She was also president of Women in Economics and promoted initiatives to diversify Bates’ economics department.
