Ruta Hadgu
Ruta Hadgu is a Program Manager for Democracy International (DI), where she manages thePerformance Accountability Activity in Ghana and Elections and Democracy Activity in Liberia. Ms. Hadgu is a lawyer and development professional with over a decade of expertise in human rights, international law, rule of law, and legal education.
Prior to joining DI, Ms. Hadgu worked at the American Bar Association’s Rule of Law Initiative (ABA ROLI) for more than six years, most recently as Program Management Unit Lead for the Africa division. While in this position, Ms. Hadgu managed programs throughout Africa, including projects focused on justice sector support, access to justice, constitutional and legislative reform, human rights, and women’s employment. Before joining ABA ROLI, Ms. Hadgu worked in Eritrea, where she held positions as a legal advisor, staff attorney, and lecturer in both private and governmental institutions.
Ms. Hadgu received her L.L.B. in Law from Asmara University and her L.L.M. in International Human Rights Law from Harvard Law School.
