Martina Perino
Martina Perino is a Senior Technical Specialist at Democracy International (DI). She is a Democracy and Governance professional with diverse experiences in Africa and the Balkans. Previously to joining DI, she worked for an implementing partner in Washington D.C. as a Program Manager covering the Great Lakes and Southern Africa region. In this role, she increased funding in the region by 50 percent by strengthening partnerships in D.C. and in the field to find new areas of programming. Until August 2019, she worked for USAID/Kosovo as a Strategic Planning Specialist where she designed the Mission’s Country Strategy as well as various programs focused on legislative and political party strengthening, media strengthening, civil society organization strengthening, local governance, and CVE. She has also worked for the European Union in Zambia and for implementing partners in DR Congo.
She holds a master’s degree in International Development from the University of Birmingham (UK), an Honors degree in Social Policy and Management, and a bachelor’s degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Cape Town.
