Hannah Byrd
Hannah Byrd is a Program Officer at Democracy International supporting the Civil Society Activity program in Tunisia and the Swift Expertise Grounded Analytics (SEGA) program. Before joining Democracy International, she worked as a Program Manager for Emma’s Torch, a workforce development program empowering refugees and asylees through culinary training in the DC area. Before that, she worked at the Center for International Private Enterprise. There, she helped manage women’s economic empowerment projects across regions and a livelihoods program in Turkey promoting business development in the food sector, as well as social cohesion, for refugees and their host communities.
Ms. Byrd taught English in Tunisia as a Middle East and North Africa Regional (MENAR) fellow. She holds a BA in International Studies and Arabic and Middle East Studies from Baylor University. Hannah speaks intermediate Arabic.
