Democracy International conducted a democracy and governance assessment in Albania for USAID. This report will identify the lessons learned and key findings pertaining to these issues, and make recommendations as part of the process of developing a new long-term strategy for encouraging democracy, good governance and rule of law.

DI fielded a team to conduct this assessment under the firm’s Indefinite Quantity Contract with USAID for Democracy and Governance Analytical Services. The team gathered information for the assessment from interviews conducted during a three-week stay in Albania in November 2005 and from readily available documents and published reports.
