Project Description

In 2017 Democracy International initiated a West Africa Regional Security Initiative (WARSI) Evaluation funded by the U.S. Department of State Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement (INL) and implemented in partnership with DevTech. INL created the WARSI program in response to the rise in organized crime and drug trafficking throughout the region. The WARSI program aims to strengthen criminal justice institutions and policies and alleviate transnational organized crime. DI’s evaluation focuses on highlighting WARSI achievements in each country evaluated, identifying both successful and unsuccessful interventions or implementers, and determining the reasons for their success or challenges, and underscoring best practices and suggestions for future INL and WARSI programming.
