Project Description
From 2011 to 2012, Democracy International implemented a USAID-funded program to support legislative and municipal elections in El Salvador. DI assisted the Supreme Electoral Tribunal of El Salvador with the implementation of fundamental reforms ahead of March 2012 legislative and municipal elections and made recommendations regarding the use of information technology to build the Tribunal’s long-term administrative capacity. DI also worked with with 14 Salvadoran civil society organizations to implement a national voter education campaign that increased citizen awareness of the changes to the voting rules and their significance for current and future electoral cycles.
