Project Description

DI worked with the U.S. Department of State Bureau of Conflict and Stabilization Operations (CSO) to conduct a countering violent extremism (CVE) program in Bangladesh. Throughout the program, DI hosted periodic symposia of varying sizes in both Dhaka, Bangladesh and Washington, D.C. for global and local VE researchers to present new research; support Bangladeshi public services organizations to build capacity for the development and implementation of CVE programming and deliver subgrants to these organizations to design and test pilot programs to address context-specific VE drivers; and disseminate lessons learned from these pilot programs to policymakers, community representatives, and other stakeholders in the expanding CVE space. DI also worked closely with CSO to develop instruments for assessing CVE program effectiveness, facilitating the translation of successful approaches to other politically-sensitive environments around the world.
