Project Description
Democracy International partnered with AusAID to work with Shamshad and Ariana TV networks to broadcast Public Service Announcements promoting equitable participation and voter information in both Pashto and Dari. A total of 38 PSAs were broadcast through both TV networks with 26 PSAs in Pashto broadcast on Shamshad TV and 12 Dari PSAs broadcast on Ariana TV. The project contributed to increased voter participation for the 2014 elections, which in turn contributed to sustaining a stable, prosperous, and democratic Afghanistan. Increased voter participation in the 2014 elections further legitimized the next Government of Afghanistan and promoted the country’s first peaceful transition of power.
