A. Mohammed A. Foboi
Mohammed Foboi is the Program Director for the USAID-funded Elections and Democracy Activity in Liberia. He has previously worked for the Government of Liberia as Head of International Affairs of the Monrovia City Corporation, serving as Chief Diplomat for the City. In this role, Mr. Foboi was seconded as the Local Project Specialist for the World Bank-funded Chessmanburg Landfill Urban Sanitation project for the cities of Monrovia, Paynesville, Brewerville, and nine townships.
Mr. Foboi led the Liberia office of the Liberia Career Pathways working with government institutions and private organizations to develop and enhance career development programs for Liberian youth and students. As Country Coordinator for Career Pathways, he led an amazing team to build Liberia’s first and only Center for Career Discovery that provides career counseling and advisement for Liberian students and helps them excel in computer applications and programming to address critical problems. Mr. Foboi is an international affairs and development practitioner with expertise in project planning, management, and implementation. His specialties include youth, peace, security, Liberian and African politics, local governance, global affairs, gender mainstreaming, community-led development, public policy, and leadership. He is also skilled in qualitative research and organizational development.
Mr. Foboi formerly served as Regional Coordinator for West and Central Africa of the Hague-based United Network of Young Peacebuilders, coordinating and supervising 34 youth-led peacebuilding organizations in nine countries. In this role, Mohammed successfully led efforts and activities to regionalize and domesticate UN Security Council Resolutions 2250 and 2419 on Youth, Peace, and Security.
He has more than 13 years of practical experience in youth peacebuilding, project management, and community-led development work.
In 2008, Mohammed founded “Looking Into the Future (LIFT-Liberia), a youth-led peacebuilding organization that works with youth and other stakeholders to reduce violence and academic malpractice. The organization built the LIFT-Liberia Center for Peacebuilding and Research as a public library and a community peacebuilding center.
Mohammed earned a bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication from the University of Liberia, a master’s degree in International Relations from IE University, and a post-graduate diploma in Transnational Governance from the European University Institute.
