Tara Fitzmartin

Program Assistant

Tara is a Program Assistant with Strategy and Outreach. Prior to joining DI, Tara worked for one of Japan’s largest newspapers, the Asahi Shimbun, covering Congress and the 2020 Presidential Election as a Staff Reporter. In 2018, she interned with the German Marshall Fund’s Asia Team, researching transatlantic foreign policy regarding Chinese foreign direct investment and the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action with Iran. Tara also interned with Doctors Without Borders and Physicians for Human Rights, assisting their development teams in securing new funding. Tara is passionate about civil society, social movements, and political participation by marginalized groups.

Tara received her B.A. from The George Washington University, where she studied Political Science and International Affairs, with a concentration in Comparative Political, Economic, and Social Systems.
