Liesbeth Zonneveld

Chief of Party

Liesbeth Zonneveld is the Chief of Party of the Protection, Inclusion, and Empowerment Activity in Armenia, which strives to enhance the well-being of disadvantaged and marginalized populations through needed changes in the legal regulatory framework, improved services, and intensified cooperation between the government and non-governmental entities.

Ms. Zonneveld brings over thirty years of distinguished experience in international development, including over 16 years as a Chief of Party, showcasing exemplary leadership in managing USAID projects and demonstrating expertise in social protection issues, cultivating productive partnerships, and managing relationships with host country governments and non-government and civil society organizations. She worked in Latin-America, the Middle East, Eastern Africa, the United States, Europe, and South-East Asia.

Ms. Zonneveld is an expert in the promotion of social inclusion and social protection, especially for disadvantaged and marginalized groups, including victims of human trafficking, forced labor, child labor, early and forced marriage, and victims of post-election violence. She also has extensive experience working on the protection of displaced populations, the unemployed, persons experiencing poverty, persons with disabilities, children facing adversity, and members of the LGBTIQ+ community. Ms. Zonneveld has worked extensively with government counterparts on social protection programs, including municipalities; ministries of labor; education; local government; environment; health; and national, regional, and local governments in several diverse contexts.

Ms. Zonneveld received her education in The Netherlands, the United States, and the United Kingdom. She received an M.Sc. in Health Sciences from the Maastricht University and an M.P.H. in Environmental Sciences from Columbia University. She studied toward her doctorate degree at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. She speaks Spanish, Arabic, French, and Dutch.
