Katie Calhoun is an Administration and Operations Specialist at Democracy International dedicated to building company-wide training programs and supporting our media and communications department. Ms. Calhoun is joining the team straight from her Graduate Student Internship, which began in the spring of 2019 where she primarily supported the program management team. She has over 13 years of experience in training, teaching, and management from her roles as a team trainer, brand expert, photography instructor, department manager, and substitute teacher. She also has worked as a video editor and camera operator for a series on animal sanctuaries and rescues.
Ms. Calhoun is interested in human rights, mass atrocity prevention, and migration. She has presented her research on international sports diplomacy and historical hegemonic systems at the Center for Sociocultural Sport and Olympic Research and the American Historical Association Pacific Coast Branch conferences respectively.
Ms. Calhoun holds a Master of Arts in International Affairs from the School of International Service at American University, a B.A. in History from California State University, Fullerton, and studied film and video production at Orange Coast College and the New York Film Academy, Los Angeles. She speaks intermediate-level French.
