Project Description

In 2011 Democracy International provided technical assistance to The Carter Center in support of it South Sudan Referendum observation program. DI technical experts advised on quantitative election monitoring methods and the design of an SMS data-collection system, followed by an analysis of data collected by observers. The results of the referendum were overwhelmingly in favor of independence of southern Sudan and the creation of the Federal Democratic Republic of South Sudan.
